Surprise!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Labor Day week-end... ours was great!

Our son, Zach, is in the Marine Corps. We haven't seen him in 5 months! Saturday morning, my two oldest daughters, son in laws, and grandchildren came by for a visit. We were all gathered in the kitchen, our usual gathering place, and my daughter, Emily, was showing us a video on the laptop. I was trying to focus on just what it was she wanted us to see, when I hear this very familiar voice behind me say, "What are you watching?" It was Zach! I screamed, jumped up, accidentally tackled my daughter, Mackenzie, and lunged for Zach. Oh, the joy of seeing him!

It seems that everyone knew about the surprise, but me! The family knew...church members knew...Zach's friends knew...They had been planning this for two weeks! What other secrets do I not know about? Well, they had also planned for lunch at the lake pavilion. I didn't have to do anything! What a wonderful day spent with friends and family! The only problem was no one remembered to bring a camera, so I don't have pictures to post.

I thought you might like to meet the other conspirators in this plot, so here is a picture of all our kids.

This was made Christmas 2010, the last time we had all of them together under one roof. From the left: Paxton, Mackenzie, Ashley, Regan, Emily, and Zach.  (Paxton lives in California and was not able to join us for the surprise.)

Aren't surprises wonderful?!?
